IllustrationThe biggest Indian release of the year is already selling like one. Ramayana: Part One has crossed $2 million in worldwide advance bookings, with 11 days still to go before it opens in cinemas on Thursday, 5 November 2026.
The advance booking so far
- North America previews on 4 November: more than $550,000
- India, opening day: more than $1.2 million
- Other overseas markets, opening day: more than $400,000
- Combined: about $2.15 million, or roughly ₹20.5 crore
- Tickets sold: about 2.25 lakh across tracked markets
India remains the biggest single contributor, while the UK, Australia and several European markets are adding to the total.
IMAX is the big story
Premium screens are pulling an unusual share of the demand. IMAX shows account for nearly 24% of India's day-one advance gross, a sign that audiences want to see the film's visual effects on the largest format possible. Trade trackers are now talking about a possible opening in the region of ₹70 crore if walk-in audiences follow the advance trend.
The film
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The score comes from A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, Zimmer's first Indian project. Distribution in the south has been split between Dil Raju in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Yash's own Monster Mind Creations in Karnataka, Think Studios in Tamil Nadu and E4 in Kerala.
