Tip Tip Barsa Paani is heading back to the big screen. Mohra, the 1994 action thriller that made stars of Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, will return to cinemas on Friday, 6 November 2026, one day after Ramayana: Part One opens.

What has been announced

  1. Trimurti Films, the banner behind Mohra, confirmed the re-release in a video on its YouTube channel.
  2. The film has been remastered in 4K and will be released by Deepinder Singh's Rimpy Films International.
  3. The re-release marks 32 years since Mohra first opened on 1 July 1994.
  4. Heera Talkies in Agra will play Mohra in all four daily shows, which means it will not screen Ramayana at all.

More classics in the pipeline

Rimpy Films is also planning re-releases of Gupt, Tridev, Yudh and Vidhaata, according to Bollywood Hungama. Gupt, Tridev and Yudh were all directed by Rajiv Rai, who also made Mohra, so fans of his 1980s and 1990s thrillers could see several of them back in theatres.

Why Mohra still pulls a crowd

Directed and edited by Rajiv Rai and produced by his father Gulshan Rai, Mohra starred Naseeruddin Shah, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Paresh Rawal, Gulshan Grover, Raza Murad, Sadashiv Amrapurkar and Poonam Jhawer. It was the first film to bring together Akshay, Suniel and Paresh, a trio that went on to make many more hits.

The music was just as big. Viju Shah's soundtrack was one of the best-selling albums of 1994, led by Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast and Tip Tip Barsa Paani, songs that still fill dance floors three decades later.

David vs Goliath

On paper, a 32-year-old film cannot compete with a mega-budget epic. But re-releases have been one of the surprise trends of the last two years, and single screens in smaller towns are clearly betting on nostalgia.
