Spider-Man: Brand New Day passes $2.5 billion worldwide, only the third film ever to do it
Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed $2.5 billion at the global box office, joining Avengers: Endgame and Avatar as the only films to reach the mark. It is still playing in theatres nearly three months after release.
IllustrationThe biggest film of 2026 keeps climbing. Spider-Man: Brand New Day has passed $2.5 billion at the worldwide box office, making it only the third film in history to reach that mark, after Avengers: Endgame and Avatar.
The numbers
- Worldwide: about $2.506 billion
- International: about $1.552 billion
- North America: about $958.7 million as of Sunday, 25 October, its 87th day in release
- Opening weekend in North America: about $360 million, from 4,487 theatres
- Budget: a reported $225 million
Its North American total is now higher than the $936.6 million earned by Star Wars: The Force Awakens, for years the domestic record-holder.
How it got here
Released on 31 July 2026, the film opened with one of the biggest debuts ever, topped the box office for four straight weekends, and passed $2 billion in about three weeks, becoming the first solo superhero film to get there. It is still playing in a few hundred theatres in the US even after arriving on digital platforms on 6 October.
What is next
Reports say the film is heading to Netflix in December, which should give it a second life with home audiences. Whether it can catch Avatar or Endgame in the all-time worldwide rankings is now the question, though both still sit well ahead.
