Udta Teer box office: Ayushmann Khurrana's spy comedy opens at ₹4.10 crore amid the Jailer 2 storm
Udta Teer, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, opened at ₹4.10 crore India net on 23 October, eighth among Ayushmann's openers. Reviews have been mixed to positive in a week crowded by Jailer 2 and Ramayana's bookings.
IllustrationAyushmann Khurrana's new film has made a modest start. Udta Teer, an action comedy directed by Akash A Kaushik, opened at ₹4.10 crore India net on Friday, 23 October 2026, according to Sacnilk.
How the opening compares
- Day 1: ₹4.10 crore India net
- Rank: eighth among Ayushmann's career openings, outside his top five
- Gap to his best: about 83% below Thamma, his biggest opener
What the film is
Udta Teer flips the hyper-macho spy film. Ayushmann plays a secret agent who has lost his memory, paired with Sara Ali Khan, and the film plays the genre for laughs rather than loud action. Bollywood Hungama called it an amusing spy comedy, while Sacnilk's review tracker puts its critics' score at 57 from seven reviews, firmly in mixed territory.
Why the start was soft
The film was originally set for 9 October but moved to avoid a clash with Drishyam 3: The Conclusion, which has since crossed ₹365 crore net. It then landed in a week dominated by Rajinikanth's Jailer 2, which is still drawing more than ₹25 crore a day on weekends, and with Ramayana's advance bookings taking up much of the conversation. Udta Teer also shares the week with Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar, 418 and Doosra.
What to watch
Comedies with decent word of mouth often grow over the weekdays, so Udta Teer's Monday to Thursday numbers will decide its run. It has a narrow window: Ramayana: Part One opens on 5 November and will take most premium screens.
