Sonu Nigam opens his Revolution India Tour in Bengaluru tonight after a Kannada apology ends protest threat

Sonu Nigam's nine-city India tour starts in Bengaluru tonight. The show was cleared of protest plans after the singer issued a video apology, partly in Kannada, over his April 2025 remarks.

Sonu Nigam takes the stage in Bengaluru tonight, Saturday, 24 October 2026, for the first India show of his Revolution Tour. A week ago the concert looked uncertain. Today it goes ahead after the singer apologised to Kannada audiences and the group that threatened protests called them off.

Tonight's show

  1. Venue: Bhartiya Mall of Bengaluru, Thanisandra Main Road
  2. Time: 7 pm
  3. Organiser: ITW Playworx
  4. Tickets: District

What happened this week

The pro-Kannada group Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) had asked the Bengaluru police commissioner to refuse permission for the show. Its objection went back to April 2025, when Nigam, performing at a college in the city, linked an audience member's loud demand for a Kannada song to the Pahalgam terror attack. That remark led to a police complaint and a public backlash at the time.

Around 19 October, after talks with KRV state president TA Narayana Gowda, Nigam released a video apology that opened in Kannada. In it he said that when you love someone and want the bond to last, apologising many times is no burden. KRV then withdrew its protest plans.

The episode matters because Karnataka has been central to Nigam's career. He has sung more than 900 Kannada songs since his first in 1996.

The Revolution India Tour

The tour celebrates 30 years of his career and covers nine Indian cities between 24 October and 20 February. Pune follows on 31 October, with later dates including Bhopal in January and Guwahati in February. The world leg launched in Abu Dhabi in August and has already played the UK, North America, Australia and New Zealand.

Nigam has also been announced for a special set at Shah Rukh Khan's UNIFYD festival in Abu Dhabi next March. Read more at https://mediamarvels.in/news/shah-rukh-khan-unifyd-festival-abu-dhabi-lineup-arijit-karan-aujla-sonu-nigam.
