A family of storytellers

Gadhvi grew up surrounded by words and music. His grandfather is a poet and his father is a folklorist and folk singer. One of his songs, Mahahetvali, is built on a poem by the Gujarati poet Dalpatram that he first heard from his grandfather.

He began performing Dayro, the Gujarati tradition of storytelling through song, and won the reality show Lok Gayak Gujarat, which gave him his first big platform.

The songs that made him

1. Khalasi. His viral Coke Studio Bharat track that introduced Gujarati folk fusion to millions.
2. Gotilo. He has said he expected only Gujarati listeners to enjoy it, then opened Instagram to find Reels from all over the world.
3. Rang Morla. A garba-night anthem.
4. Hansla, Charan Kanya and Naagar Nandji Na Lal. Favourites at his live shows.
5. Albeli Matwali Maiya. A devotional garba song to Goddess Amba, filmed near Ambaji. It was considered for the Grammys' Global Music Performance category and won Best Global Traditional Song at the World Entertainment Awards in Los Angeles in 2026.

A live act without borders

Gadhvi's garba nights are among the biggest live events of Navratri. He has performed across India and in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and the UAE, toured the UK in 2026 with shows in Leicester and Watford, and performed at the Isha Foundation's Mahashivratri night.

In October 2026, he distanced himself from an announcement made by others at his Ahmedabad garba event, saying his stage is for music and devotion. Read the full story at https://mediamarvels.in/news/aditya-gadhvi-garba-announcement-statement-ahmedabad.

Why Aditya Gadhvi matters

Gadhvi is often credited with making Gujarati folk mainstream. He brought old poetry and folk forms to a generation raised on streaming, without diluting the language. He has said music has the power to connect one soul to another, and his crowds, many of them young people who had never listened to Gujarati folk before, are the proof.
