After 25 years, Gorillaz are finally coming to India. Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett's virtual band will bring The Mountain Tour to three Indian cities in January 2027, and the album they are touring was largely made in India.

How the tour came together
Gorillaz announced Bengaluru and Mumbai in April 2026, after hinting online that India was next. On 10 September 2026, they added a third date in Guwahati, making it one of the biggest international shows ever staged in Northeast India. Hewlett has said the band's dream had always been to tour India.
Why The Mountain feels Indian
The Mountain, Gorillaz's ninth album, was released in February 2026 on their own label, KONG. Large parts of it were recorded in Mumbai, New Delhi, Rajasthan and Varanasi, and it features Indian legends and contemporaries including Asha Bhosle, Anoushka Shankar, Ajay Prasanna and Asha Puthli. That makes these shows feel less like a tour stop and more like a homecoming for the music.
What to expect on stage
Gorillaz shows bring the animated band (2-D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel) to life on big screens while Albarn leads a full live band. Reports suggest some of the album's Indian collaborators may join as guests, though no special guests have been officially confirmed for the India dates.
