The 70th BFI London Film Festival has closed with The Debut, Jesse Eisenberg's musical comedy starring Julianne Moore. Reuters reports that the film brought the festival to its conclusion on October 18, following its selection for the closing-night UK premiere. Moore plays a woman drawn into a community-theatre production, a role that connects personal discovery with the pressure and companionship of performance. The BFI's official listing names Paul Giamatti, Halle Bailey and Bernadette Peters among the ensemble. The festival appearance brings the film into the international conversation ahead of its UK cinema release, which the BFI lists for January 15, 2027. It also puts theatre and original musical storytelling at the centre of a prominent cinema event.
