My Chemical Romance release The Black Parade 20th anniversary edition with Maxwell's live tracks as tour ends at the Hollywood Bowl
The Black Parade (20th Anniversary) is out now with six bonus tracks, including three live songs from Maxwell's in 2007 and three fan-favourite B-sides, as My Chemical Romance close their tour with five Hollywood Bowl nights.
IllustrationTwenty years after it turned emo into an arena-sized spectacle, My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade is back in a new edition. The Black Parade (20th Anniversary) was released on Friday, 23 October 2026, through Reprise Records, right in the middle of the band's final run of shows for the year.
What is new
- Three live recordings from the band's tiny hometown show at Maxwell's in Hoboken, New Jersey, on 24 October 2007: Dead!, The Sharpest Lives and Someone Out There Loves You, the song fans call Stay.
- Three B-sides from the era: Heaven Help Us, Kill All Your Friends and My Way Home Is Through You.
- Three new artworks by James Jean, who painted the original album cover.
The edition comes in several formats, including deluxe double vinyl variants and a numbered One-Step audiophile pressing limited to 7,000 copies, cut from the original analogue master tapes.
The party around it
Hot Topic, the retailer tied to the band since the 2000s, held listening parties in all its US stores on release day, and turned its Hollywood store into a Black Parade pop-up for the whole of October.
The tour finale
The Black Parade 2026 tour, in which the band plays the album in full in costume before an encore of other hits, ends with five nights at the Hollywood Bowl on 21, 23, 24, 30 and 31 October. The last two are billed as Devil's Night and Halloween, making My Chemical Romance the first band to play five shows at the venue in a single run.
Why it still matters
Released in October 2006, The Black Parade is a rock opera about a dying patient, and it gave a generation songs like Welcome to the Black Parade, Famous Last Words and Teenagers. The reunion tours of the past two years have shown its audience has only grown.
