When Dhurandhar became one of the biggest films of 2025, millions of people heard a rapper they had never heard of. That voice belongs to Daiaphi Lamare, known as Reble, a rapper from Meghalaya who spent years in the Northeast's indie scene before Bollywood found her.

A rebel from the start

Reble first heard music that moved her at four or five, from a melody on a telephone line. She started writing and rapping at about 10, inspired by Eminem, The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac and Linkin Park.

She first performed in 2018 as Daya, with the local group Symphonic Movement, using a different name so her family would not find out. In 2019 she became Reble, a name she says reflects her identification with rebellion. Through it all she kept studying, and has said that when a show clashed with an exam, she chose the exam so as not to disappoint her mother.

The indie years

1. Bad (2019). Her debut, produced by D-Mon of Shillong group Khasi Bloodz.
2. Talk of the Town with kbjj (2022). Named one of the best Indian independent singles of 2022 by Rolling Stone India.
3. Entropy (2022). Her debut EP on Kamani Records, introducing alter egos and more melodic sounds.
4. Terror, Kill Switch (Red Bull 64 Bars) and Set It Off (2024 to 2025).
5. New Riot (2025). A phonk-tinged anthem released with Homegrown Music and Atlantic Records, which she performed at the first Rolling Loud India.
6. Praying Mantis (May 2026). Her first independent release after Dhurandhar.

Vogue India named her among eight emerging women in Indian hip-hop in 2021, and Rolling Stone India put her on its Future of Music list in 2025.

The film breakthrough

1. Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra (2025). Thani Lokah Murakkaari, composed by Jakes Bejoy, was her first film song.
2. Dhurandhar (2025). Run Down the City – Monica, Move – Yeh Ishq Ishq and Naal Nachna, with composer Shashwat Sachdev.
3. Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026). Aari Aari, Main Aur Tu, Vaari Jaavan and Rang De Lal (Oye Oye).

She has said Dhurandhar happened out of nowhere and came together at the last moment.

In October 2026, Reble was nominated for Youth Icon at the CNN-News18 Indian of the Year awards. Read about it at https://mediamarvels.in/news/cnn-news18-indian-of-the-year-2026-nominees-shreya-ghoshal-sai-abhyankkar.

What she stands for

Reble raps in English as well as Khasi and Jaintia. She wants her work to represent the whole of Northeast India, and she is outspoken about tokenism, saying she does not want to be filler on festival lineups because she is a woman. She has also said women in rap should not need to sexualise themselves to sell music.
