Taylor Swift has the No. 1 song in America. But the biggest song in the world right now belongs to Karol G. BbY WOW, her collaboration with Spanish artists Judeline and rusowsky, sits at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and has held the top of Hot Latin Songs for nine straight weeks.

The song that almost stayed solo

BbY WOW started as a Karol G solo track. Judeline told NYLON that she wrote with Karol G in Malibu, with Tainy and rusowsky in the room, while Karol was rehearsing for Coachella, and that the song was meant to be just for her. About two weeks before the album came out, Karol called asking for Judeline and rusowsky to be on it, and they recorded their parts in two days.

The records

  1. Karol G replaced herself at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs when BbY WOW jumped from No. 5 to No. 1, her 11th chart-topper there.
  2. It became her second song to reach No. 1 on Spotify's global chart.
  3. Judeline became the first Spanish woman to reach No. 1 on Spotify's global chart, and it was rusowsky's first global No. 1 too.
  4. It has outlasted Taylor Swift's Patient Zero to keep returning to the top of the Billboard Global 200.

Who are Judeline and rusowsky?

Judeline, real name Lara Fernández Castrelo, was born in 2003 in Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, and is one of Spain's most exciting alternative pop voices. rusowsky is a Madrid-based singer and producer from the same alternative scene. BbY WOW has turned both into global names.

Why BbY WOW took over

  1. An instant, danceable hook.
  2. A viral dance trend, whose creators Karol G even invited onto her world tour.
  3. Three distinct voices that make the track feel fresh in a crowded reggaeton market.
