What the numbers tell us
1. A massive start. A Rs 62 crore opening day on a national holiday, followed by Rs 61 crore on the first Sunday, gave the film one of the strongest opening weekends of 2026.
2. Family audiences came back on weekends. The second Saturday (Rs 26.50 crore) almost doubled the second Friday, a classic sign of good word of mouth.
3. Festive bumps in week 3. Collections rose again around Dussehra (20 October), even after Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 took over many screens from 15 October.
Ajay Devgn's biggest hit
Trade reports describe Drishyam 3 as Ajay Devgn's highest-grossing film worldwide and his first film as lead actor to cross Rs 300 crore net in India. Bollywood Hungama also reported that the Drishyam franchise as a whole has passed Rs 648 crore, overtaking Housefull to become the fifth highest-grossing Hindi franchise.
Why Drishyam works
The series is built on one simple idea: an ordinary family man outthinking the police to protect his family. Each film rewards audiences who remember the details of the last one, which is why many viewers rewatched Drishyam and Drishyam 2 before buying tickets for the finale.
