2026 has been a historic year on the Billboard Hot 100, America's main singles chart. Ten different artists have reached No. 1, Taylor Swift set a new record, and one country song has spent longer at the top than any song in the chart's history.

Ella Langley's Choosin' Texas: the longest No. 1 ever
Choosin' Texas first reached No. 1 in February and kept coming back. With its 23rd week at No. 1, it broke the all-time record for the most weeks at the top of the Hot 100, and Billboard has since reported a 24th week.
1. It passed the 19-week runs of Old Town Road by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus and A Bar Song (Tipsy) by Shaboozey.
2. Langley is the first female country artist to hold No. 1 for this long.
3. It is the only 2026 No. 1 by an artist reaching the top for the first time.
The song's success shows how strong country music has become in streaming, and how a song can grow through radio, playlists and short-form video for months rather than peaking in its first week.
Taylor Swift's record year
Taylor Swift has three No. 1s in 2026: The Fate of Ophelia, Opalite and I Knew It, I Knew You. The last of these is her 15th Hot 100 No. 1, the most by any artist in the 21st century. It is also the first Hot 100 No. 1 from a Pixar film.
BTS return to No. 1
Swim, from BTS's comeback album ARIRANG, reached No. 1 in April 2026, the group's first chart-topper since completing their military service. Read about the BTS ARIRANG World Tour at https://mediamarvels.in/blog/bts-arirang-world-tour-dates-india.

2. Genre is no barrier. Country, K-pop, Latin and pop all reached No. 1 this year.
3. Fan communities drive charts, from ARMY to Swifties.
