Karva Chauth 2026 falls on Thursday, 29 October. From the pre-dawn sargi to the moment the moon appears through the sieve, it is one of the most romantic days of the year, and the right songs make the long wait for moonrise feel shorter.
Here are the best Karva Chauth songs for 2026: the classics every family knows, modern love songs for couples, and a few ideas for your evening get-together.
The Karva Chauth classics
Bollywood has given Karva Chauth some of its most memorable moments, and these songs are part of the festival's popular culture.
1. Chand Chhupa Badal Mein (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, 1999). The definitive Karva Chauth song. Its moon-and-clouds imagery fits the evening perfectly, and it is still the most-played track of the day.
2. Tujhe Dekha To (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, 1995). DDLJ's famous Karva Chauth scene helped make the festival a Bollywood favourite, and this is the film's most loved romantic song.
3. Chaand Sifarish (Fanaa, 2006). A love song addressed to the moon, which makes it a natural fit for a festival that ends with moonrise.
Modern love songs for couples
For younger couples celebrating together, these recent romantic hits work beautifully for the evening.
1. Tum Hi Ho (Aashiqui 2, 2013). A heartfelt devotion song that suits the spirit of the fast.
2. Raataan Lambiyan (Shershaah, 2021). Soft, warm and perfect for the evening wait.
3. Kesariya (Brahmastra, 2022). One of the most loved Hindi love songs of the decade.
Songs for the evening get-together
Many families and housing societies gather in the evening for the katha, mehendi and photos before moonrise. Keep the mood light with celebratory songs.
1. Mehendi Hai Rachne Waali (Zubeidaa, 2001). Ideal while hands are being decorated with mehendi.
2. Bole Chudiyan (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, 2001). A big, joyful family song for when everyone is dressed up.
How to plan your Karva Chauth playlist
1. Morning: keep it calm. Soft devotional music or gentle melodies while preparing.
2. Afternoon: classics. Family favourites like Bole Chudiyan and Mehendi Hai Rachne Waali during mehendi and dressing up.
3. Evening katha and puja: lower the volume and pause the music for the ritual.
4. Moonrise: save Chand Chhupa Badal Mein for the moment the moon appears.
Moonrise times vary by city by up to an hour or more, so check your local time on the day before you plan the evening.
